Shanon developed multiple tools to collect and analyze K-5 literacy data to monitor student progress and measure the effectiveness of the Reading Intervention program. In addition to spreadsheets for teachers to record mastery test data, she created a relational database capable of consolidating multiple datapoints across cohorts and over time.

Using this data enabled Shannon and the Reading Intervention Team to more closely monitor student progress as well as make adjustments to intervention groups as necessary.

Additionally, tracking multiple data sources over time in addition to a student’s participation in reading intervention facilitated more effective referrals for Special Education when and if it was determined that the student was not making adequate progress in their small group.
